Two hundred thirty-five years ago our Founding Fathers, having risked their lives over the course of many years creating a new nation, achieved their vision for our magnificent country…independence.
No one defined the great risks they took through their visionary leadership more simply than Benjamin Franklin when he said, “We must hang together, gentlemen…else, we shall most assuredly hang separately.”
Their vision of freedom, rooted in tenacity, hard work, perseverance, courage, fortitude and self-reliance was the cornerstone of our country’s birth.
Still to this day, these values give birth to freedom, independence…and personal success. They represent the essence of our Founding Fathers’ visionary leadership.
Independence remains a dream…
But even today independence remains a dream for many in our country, in particular for disadvantaged women. My inspirational friend Molly Cantrell-Kraig is doing something about this!
Molly has created a unique program that empowers women. Rather than enabling them with an entitlement mindset, she empowers them through their commitment to responsibility and transformation, thus receiving a “jump start” on their future in return.
Women With Drive Foundation
You see, for many disadvantaged women, especially women living in rural areas, a car is what stands between their current situation and the chance for a better life. Without a car to get them to a job interview or their job, and with no mass transit options in rural America, they cannot turn their internal drive into financial success.
This is where Molly comes in. She created Women With Drive Foundation to empower women to turn their internal drive not only into financial success, but personal growth as well! In essence, Molly opens the door to “the pursuit of happiness,” the right to which we are all endowed, through her own visionary leadership.
Women With Drive Foundation provides eligible women:
- Access to a car and funding of maintenance on the car
- A WWD program officer who works with them on a 2-year plan toward independence
- Access to higher education, financial planning and interviewing skills, and life skills that empower her with a new perspective on her opportunities in life
- In essence, they remove an immediate and real pressure in order that the woman may use her energy toward her independence
In return, women in the program commit to:
- Taking the car in for regular maintenance and learning about the responsibilities of owning a car
- Committing to the goals set in their 2-year plan with their WWD program officer, and meeting weekly and monthly to review their personal progress
- Committing fully to their job
- Being drug-free and insurable
- Being self-reliant and holding herself accountable for her success…keys to her own independence! In essence, personal leadership.

While we are all familiar with the first sentence of the Declaration of Independence…
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness
…on this day of celebration one which bears remembering as well is the last,
And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.
