I am one of those people who believe that things happen for a reason.

I also believe…

  • I have met certain people along my journey for specific reasons, and not a moment too soon
  • The greatest challenges I have faced revealed my own power and were thus blessings in dark disguise
  • Books given as gifts contain relevant messages we’re meant to receive
  • Obstacles are in place for a reason and with very specific lessons – there are no shortcuts
  • When my “gut” tells me I am meant to be somewhere (like SOBCon), even though I’m not sure why, I need to listen
  • New paths only appear when we are truly open to them and ready to see them laid before us
  • Lessons from my leadership failures were as important, if not more so, than lessons from my own leadership successes
  • Feminine intuition is divinely created and immensely powerful – and male executives who appreciate this are at a competitive advantage

In several of my posts I’ve mentioned that I have a very wise friend.  She is not only wise but very powerful in the ways that really matter in this world.  She just gave birth to a baby girl and shared with those close to her a quote that she felt was imbued with her feelings about the true glory of this birth.

Having read it I know I was meant to receive it as a magical gift – and I was meant to receive it right now.  It has implications for us as leaders and as humans.

Even though I’ve read it before I never really “experienced” this quote until now.

Perhaps as a reader of this blog you are meant to experience it today for a reason as well…? Perhaps there is a message in here with your name on it too – or maybe you’re meant to share it with someone…

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?  Actually, who are you not to be?  You are a child of God.  Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.  There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people don’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.  We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.  It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone.  And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.  As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

–Marianne Williamson

How will you change your company, your team, the world today if you allow yourself to be “powerful beyond measure?”

Often times its the clouds more than the darkness that ruin us. Darkness has always implied rest and recharge to me. Light is the pure motivation that you can achieve and succeed. Clouds on the other hand are all those miscellaneous items that block our vision of what is reality and discourage and make us feel gloomy. I absolutely adore this post (as always) and feel encouraged once again by your thoughts. One of these days I need to take a crack at your writing style 🙂 Have a great day Lisa!

      Jonathan,

It means so much to me that somehow I’ve encouraged you – I really mean that. How interesting to read how you perceive darkness. It’s a perfect example of how this “blogging thing” has been so revealing in ways I never expected.

Don’t take a crack at my writing style – it’s simply the words coming out of my heart. Write the words coming out of yours, you write them so beautifully here! Hugs… 🙂

lisa, once again, your personal insights and thoughtfulness are both motivating and empowering. that marianne williamson quote is a favorite of mine and i haven’t read it in a few months. it is a beauty and one that every woman should post on the inside of her eyelids! thanks for sharing your heart and not being afraid to tell men that they are wise to take advantage of our divine intuition! you rock!

          Thank you, Jorja. 🙂

I love how you say we should have the quote on the inside of our eyelids! You know, not just women – men too. I’ve had very interesting comments from men about the power of this quote and what it elicits.

And I think there are some smart men who know that when a woman is in a meeting and says, “Something about this just doesn’t feel right” that they should heed her words! Hopefully more will come to understand that.

Thanks for your kind words, insights and for taking the time to comment – I really appreciate it!

That’s kind of what I meant by your writing style. I can “feel” it. Very conversational! You write from the tips of your toes to the top of your head 🙂 and all of your heart.

Lisa, this is my favorite quote. My favorite line- “Our deepest fear is that we are powerful by measure.” Sometimes the fear to take on challenges stems from the fear of the power we have for greatness. Motivation and perseverance can allow this greatness to emerge, and we can overcome the fear. It’s not always easy, and sometimes I think it scares people to be successful, to really conquer what they have set out to do. I love reading this quote over and over. Thank you for sharing.

      Sara Jean,

I couldn’t agree with you more – the words “powerful beyond measure” elicit the greatest emotion from me when I read this quote. It really is inspiring to think of ourselves that way, right? 🙂

Thank you for sharing your own feelings about the quote – it means a lot to me that you took the time to comment.
All the very best to you…

    Hey Lisa,

You know from previous discussions I too am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. And as I’ve told you, I am the recipient of an out-and-out epiphany earlier in my life.

I have had to fight others perceptions of me for most of my adult life. I would add to the wonderful quote by Marianne that as we shine so shall others. We need to see people for who they are and not what we think they are or worse what we think they should be.

      Beautifully said.

If only our own biases didn’t cloud our view of others sometimes…right?

Thank you for sharing your truth – I think it truly does make you powerful beyond measure. 🙂
